The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. troye真的太会穿搭了，真的是匡威代言人惹！喜欢这部电影的调色和构图，吹爆电影配乐，感觉电影也融入了troye自己的元素，比如他的偶像，cue到taylor swift，犹太人的身份…希望troye能够多演戏惹，盛世美颜可不要浪费！另外我倒觉得caleb和estha挺配的，estha真的是反差萌，看起来可可爱爱，脱了衣服好多🐼

戳爷这里出的两首歌太好听了，为歌而来。电影就无功无过了，当个小清新糖水还算行，戳爷的颜值我是get不到，但印度小哥长得蛮可以，最后原因竟然是选择学业笑死，亚洲文化正面直刚美国热浪青少年。

色彩太漂亮了 很高兴看到Troye还是那个有着夏日清爽气息的男孩 一如许多年前初识的青春
3.5 故事挺俗的，但les top和gay bottom姐妹情深非常可以
“佐治亚理工学院”“我要专注于我的学业”，啧啧，跟我的第一任渣男一模一样。
电影调色是真没的挑，非常抢眼的马卡龙色混搭，满屏都在洋溢着青春的气息；但这种疼痛记忆的糖水片也确实没在我喜欢的点上，以至于看的也是不痛不痒。顺带说一句，电影的几首配乐蛮不错的，比较喜欢。
这是一部集合友情，爱情的夏日故事。电影本身略显无聊，节奏少有拖沓。

Troye真的好养眼，整部电影的配色都柔和轻盈，蓝马甲和涂鸦的帆布鞋，橘色创可贴和白色内裤，戳到底是怎么做到蛊而不媚，清澈纯粹的!!关于三个月的煎熬等待，感谢相遇的每一段经历。正确认识艾滋，拒绝污名化。从小切入点入手，有一定的教育意义却不沉重严肃。

2022.2.27 戳爷居然也拍电影了？？还是LGBT？很难不让人多想啊！上线前一天戳爷得新冠了卧槽 真有这么巧的事情吗！本来说好23号上线的 等半天居然是24号…而且27号终于出熟肉了！亿万同人确实良心 很多片都能首发熟肉 还行 其实戳爷作为一名歌手首次参演电影这样的水平也很是不错了 希望戳爷还能继续在演艺生涯发展下去 好多戳爷的近摄 真的好帅啊 感觉好精致一人他就 知道62年以来所有奥斯卡影后就跟那个斯拉夫籍做了好6 后面发现他得了HIV 戳爷又是受就很怕去做检查 原来top是攻 bottom是受 男二真的一眼印度人 但不怎么黑而且口音也不是很印式 他这样的在印度男性中真的算很帅了 男主是gay 女主是拉拉 这片真就所有人是同性 然后经典gay片其中一方因为种种原因离开对方另一方无法接受
