The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 有点早年的尼古拉斯凯奇作品味道了，也算是一种演员与自己过往的和解方式，用一部电影致敬过去，有点浪漫。
是演员版的【头号玩家】，或者凯奇的演员新生，也可能是告别了某个电影的黄金时代的嬉闹致敬。但不管怎么定义这个结构复杂、彩蛋颇多的电影，都挺浮浅和综艺化的。很多情节展开无非是要做反转和效果。这仍然不是凯奇重启事业的作品，这更像是他放弃事业心，拍点调侃自己的作品。另外，凯奇完全没有佩德罗·帕斯卡出彩。
片名透露了这是一个天赋异禀却高开低走的人物故事。凯奇把自己的演艺道路搬上银幕，电影也层出不穷地回cue他曾经的光辉时刻，凯奇更是借机回应关于烂片之王的吐槽。但我完全没有感受到unbearable weight具体是什么，我甚至质疑本片与中心词massive talent风马牛不相及。片里片外的凯奇沦为烂片之王不是因为massive talent的稍纵即逝，而是缺钱迫使接片不加节制、导致口碑下滑。故事的本质是常见的中年危机题材。至于青年凯奇劝勉中年凯奇时常用的那句You have a gift，与主人公凯奇的凤泊鸾漂和重振雄风可以说是驴唇不对马嘴。片中真正有gift的是对故事具备敏锐直觉的佩德罗，而在切入切戏中戏中，47岁佩德罗扮演的角色显然更富有层次感。
凯奇的商业片要是都能有这水平的话显然是不用担心未来的。
还挺有趣，戏里戏外半真半假的凯奇，最大的趣点就是凯奇作为真实的自我去扮演另一个虚假的他，电影里里外外都是凯奇粉丝向的。不要抱有期待凯奇咸鱼翻身拍了一部什么惊艳四方的大经典，对于现在的凯奇来说很难，因为大制作很难找上门，只有独立风格的电影还可以尝试，所以完全没必要总期待凯奇什么时候可以翻身，他其实已经翻身了。这部电影是有其可看之处的。趣味性、娱乐性，以凯奇作为中心而打造一个关于演员自白类型的娱乐片，尚可。
稍微有点遗憾，以为会有更多调侃凯奇的部分，虽然有但是还是差点意思。台词和镜头的致敬也不是很多，更多只是提一提凯奇之前电影的名字就完事儿了。不过凯奇的演技是真的不错，特别是那个精神分裂的凯奇，每次都非常有笑果。

太无聊了，看了10分钟删了，毫无观看欲望，一个老男人在顾影自怜，这有啥看点？以前也没演几部好电影，后来演一堆烂片，然后现在在吐槽现实中的自己，嘚吧嘚，嘚吧嘚的，有意思么？什么时候电影这么廉价了？

还有什么能比演自己更孤注一掷拯救职业生涯的办法呢？总之凯奇是做了，谈不上做得多么出色，但也确实需要一定勇气，拿以往辉煌作品开涮，自黑成为习惯的台词在告诉我们，他真的想重新开始。前段非常有趣，中间开始俗套，片尾大战糊弄了事，导演对不起凯奇。至于结尾破墙后的段落，我相信那是凯奇的真情实感，毕竟从孩提时代一路看过来他的作品，好的坏的，也是在其中注入了自己的感情，我懂。

纯凯奇的粉丝向作品，笑点对于没看过他作品的人来说挺无聊的
打破了荧幕界线，算是不错的尝试，但剧情无论是深度还是趣味性都略显不足。

三星半，红毒蛇的小粉丝表情萌萌哒，演的也蛮有层次。感觉致敬（自己致敬自己？）和梗还蛮多的，剧本故事就松松垮垮吧
凯奇演凯奇、凯奇看凯奇、凯奇吻凯奇，玩梗很欢乐但好在不只是玩梗，戏内的凯奇和戏外的凯奇，戏内做演员的凯奇和做间谍的凯奇，都形成了现实与电影的一种有趣的互文，满脸囧像的佩德罗和凯奇间的火花也很好。很高兴叔终于又开始接大制作了，翻身指日可待。
凯奇值得更好的一部解构自己过气影星身份的电影。
