The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 影片前后调性不一致，但还是感谢电影展示这个故事。初始目的勿论，探险家以历史角度评判是全人类的英雄，人类之所以能够拥抱整个地球，他们每一个人都居功至伟。
没有剧烈的对抗 冲突，也算不上有多惊心动魄的生死关头，直到最后在无人之地的北极待了两年，人绝望到产生幻象，甚至一度要互相厮杀。整体气质都是淡淡的，平静的叙事。很喜欢影片传达出的一个核心思想，“这是最糟糕的时刻”“不 这不是”“我们没有希望了”“一定还有的”
梅尔吉普森没（好）戏拍到老，人生难预料。
导演的人生也很精彩，台词丰富有趣，前面节奏好，剧情发展后半段有点控制不太稳
